Participating in a Virtual Production
Conducting the interview
For remote interviews, we use Zoom ISO, a specialized video production application. With Zoom ISO, we are able to capture individual HD video and audio for each participant. This process allows for the most flexibility in post production.
As a participant, you are just joining a regular Zoom meeting. Please visit zoom.us, create a free account and download the Zoom app in advance of your interview time. At a minimum, you will need a computer equipped with a webcam and a microphone. Do not join using a phone or tablet.
Please join the meeting at your interview time: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7251310990.
Connection
Wi-Fi does not work well for virtual production no matter how fast your connection is. Plug your computer into your network router and turn your Wi-Fi off. If a wired connection is absolutely not available, ensure that your wireless connection is strong and fast.
Lighting & setting
Make sure that your face is well lit. Windows are a great natural light source and should be behind the camera facing you (windows should never be behind you). If windows are not available, use a desk lamp or a floor lamp to illuminate your face. Be sure the lamp is behind the camera and in front of you. A simple, uncluttered background is preferable.
Microphone
Use a high-quality external microphone or headset microphone. If these options are not available, earbud-style headphones with a built-in microphone is the next best thing. Use your computer microphone as a last resort. Make sure that you are in a quiet room with minimal background noise.
Camera & Placement
A high-quality external webcam is preferable to the built-in camera on your computer. We recommend the Logitech Brio. Raise your webcam to eye level; this will produce the most flattering image. Below is an example of the framing that we are looking for.
